Let's paint the classroom

A new school season of 2014 has started. So, because the influence I got from the other teacher, I paint my class with the help from my pupils. I chose two colours, green and orange. Not a very good mix, but my intention was to make the class cheerful. We have finish painting the classroom, but the decoration hasn't finish yet. I kind feel embarrass to put my class picture because I'm not good in decoration, so, I do what I can. The purpose of doing this is to increase my pupils enthusiasm to study and they increase their will to study more. It also to help in their learning process. Seeing what other teachers did, wow, I'm impress. That's why they said that teaching is a job from the heart, because if you do not have strong and passion heart for teaching, it will be difficult. Because paint the class, make it cheerful is not part of the scope of being a teacher, but, teachers around the world did it, because the teachers wanted their pupils to feel happy and moti...

Teacher, may I go to toilet?

This week is a bit relax  for me as pupils are having test. But after today, so many works awaiting for me to do. Of course, I have to mark pupills test and prepare for the week ahead. So many works, so procrastination is not an option. Today I enter year 1 Bijak class. I'm their English teacher. As I  mentioned earlier that this week pupils are having test, so I'm not teaching them anything heavy. So today, I taught my pupils to ask permission to go toliet in English. As i'm threatening my pupils by telling them that I will not allow them to go toilet if they ask in Malay, so, the pupils showed great enthusiasm in learning the phrase "Teacher, May I go to toilet, please?" After drilling for a few times, I called out a few names and sees if they able to say it out loud. There few hands up to show their ability, but what this particular pupil did make me smile. Instead of waiting for her turn, she directly sees me and said the phrase. She put the wentence into ...

A new place

My application to move to home state has been approved, and beginning 2010, I’ll be a teacher at my hometown, in a place call Kota Tinggi, Johor. From Sarawak to Kota Tinggi, I felt very happy at the beginning, but then I started to feel that I might have make a wrong decision. I miss my pupils dearly and at times I wish that I could take back my application. I learn, I should be strong, but I too weak to stand up and only followed what people around me are doing. I am person who believes that everything happens for a reason and that must be something good from anything that happens to me. But now, I have to move on. Thankful now that I am closer to my parents and will able to take care of them as I’m the only daughter and the youngest they have. It so hard to adjust to a new place. But as there are so many things to do, I don’t have time to indulge in a misery feeling that I have, which I think it is good, so i do not cope up with sadness too much. My new school located near beach and...

Experience is the Greatest Teacher

I'm a teacher, and I'm proud to be a teacher, but become a teacher is not easy It always come to my mind, is everything what I taught my pupils, do they get it? It makes me worry all the time. But somehow, I know, they do not get fully what I taught. Even our brain unable to give 100% concentration at all time, and the most, it can only gives 100% concentration of not more than five minutes. Moreover, learning also involves memorization, and most of us know, memorization is not easy (it goes to me, I hate to memorize), that’s why as a teacher, I’ve been told that I need to expose to my pupils to the real things of what they learn as much as possible so that they can better and easy to grasp of what I taught. (It’s not easy to be a teacher) At the age of 26 now, I realized most of the things that I know and learned, I learned through experiences, especially things related to heart. Learning from people and books, can widen our knowledge, but learning from real situati...

First entry - Introduction

So I’ve decided to make a new blog about me as a teacher. I decided to make this blog because suddenly I felt lucky that I enter into this profession even though before this I’m felt a little regretting, more over I’ve been posted to a very rural area, but today, I’ve experienced something that I felt really bless and lucky. It just me and other teacher, cikgu Linda went to jungle trekking looking for a vegetable called pucuk niding, and through the journey, we experienced a very great and memorable experiences. Today experiences make me realized how lucky I am in this place and actually it wasn’t that bad to be in here. There are things I got to experienced, see and do. I saw how my pupils actually went to and learn how marvelous they are compare to me. I’m coming from a farmer family too, but I never experienced what my pupils have experienced. Went to jungle and swimming in a river is something normal to them, but I only went to jungle because I ahd to and with a guider, not with a ...
