Short Story : The Tortoise and Its Shell

Once upon a time, in a far far away jungle, lived three good friends, the tortoise, the monkey and the deer. They have been close friends for many years and share everything together.

One day, at their usual meeting place, they gather together. But on that day, the monkey and the deer wanted to show to the tortoise, their new found abilities.

The deer said, " Look, I can run very fast, and I do not feel tired at all, ". The deer ran up and down and around the tortoise fast. The tortoise looked down, feeling sad because he knows that he cannot run that fast.

Then, it is the monkey turn. "Look at me, I can swing from one tree to another tree. I can also do acrobatic movements too",. The monkey shows off his skills proudly to their friends.

Once again, the tortoise felt hurt, because he knows, he also cannot swing from tree to tree. It makes the tortoise more hurt because he did not have anything to show off.

The tortoise said "Why do I have a shell, anyway? What is this shell used for?
The deer and the monkey saw the sadness in the tortoise eyes. "We are sorry. We don't mean to hurt you', "/ Said the deer.

The monkey also said, "Please forgive us, and please do not be sad, you are also unique in your own way, "

Suddenly, they heard some loud stamping sound. Boom! Boom! Boom
"Run, run, said the monkey and deer loudly.

The tortoise cannot run as fast as the deer or swing like the monkey. The only way he can save his life is by hiding his head and limbs inside his shell.
"Boom, Boom, Boom - again the sound of a loud thump.

Oh, it was the sound of an elephant. The elephant will stamp his feet loudly when walking. It because it is a huge elephant.

"Ouch... ooh, my feet hurt' ". cried the elephant as he stepped on something hard. The elephant moved his feet away. Then, the elephant saw something green under his foot. It was the tortoise. The tortoise was under the elephant's foot.

"Are you alright? asked the elephant?

Then, the tortoise looked out from his shell.

"I'm alright, said the tortoise.

The monkey and the deer who saw the incident came out and said to the tortoise.
"Your shell saved your life. ! said the monkey.

"It's very hard and strong. The shell hurt my foot. Said the elephant sadly.
Because of the incident, the tortoise realized that he too has something great. Since then, his opinion towards himself changed. He discovered that he is special in his own way.

My dear friends, from the story, we learn that we cannot look down on ourselves. Everyone, including you and me, are special and unique in our own way.
With that, I end my story. Thank you very much.
