A new place

My application to move to home state has been approved, and beginning 2010, I’ll be a teacher at my hometown, in a place call Kota Tinggi, Johor. From Sarawak to Kota Tinggi, I felt very happy at the beginning, but then I started to feel that I might have make a wrong decision. I miss my pupils dearly and at times I wish that I could take back my application. I learn, I should be strong, but I too weak to stand up and only followed what people around me are doing. I am person who believes that everything happens for a reason and that must be something good from anything that happens to me. But now, I have to move on. Thankful now that I am closer to my parents and will able to take care of them as I’m the only daughter and the youngest they have. It so hard to adjust to a new place. But as there are so many things to do, I don’t have time to indulge in a misery feeling that I have, which I think it is good, so i do not cope up with sadness too much. My new school located near beach and...

Coming back to school

After two weeks of absence from school, now I’m back. Beside hari raya holidays, the reason that I was not in school is because I accompany my pupils for a trip to Miri town. There were great experiences for me be the guiding teacher during the trip. I’ll update about the trip soon. Today, I’m so frustrated my pupils as two of them didn’t finish the homework that was given to them. Hmmm, I guess I have to tolerate with this kind of pupils so long I remain as a teacher. Teacher Linda is bringing a hari raya to the school. She brought a lot of Kuih raya and gather the pupils and gave them a treat. She also gave duit raya. I can only contribute Dodol. Many pupils said that it the first time they taste a raya biscuits and kind surprised to eat dodol because it can stretchable. While Teacher Ibrahim brought the infamous Sarawak cake. Even though the feast was a small one, but what Teacher Linda did for me is really appraisable. Now the pictures. Teacher Linda is explaining about the foods ...

A joke for teacher

2 x 11 Why is two times ten the same as two times eleven? Because two times ten is twenty, and two times eleven is twenty, too! Nothing Headmaster : I’ve had complaints about you, Johny from all your teachers. What have you been doing? Johny : Nothing, Sir. Headmaster : exactly . Tense One day an English grammar teacher was looking ill. A student asked, “What’s the matter?“Tense” answered the teacher, describing how he felt. The student paused, then continued, “What was the matter? What has been the matter? What might have been the matter……..? Grade Father : How are your grades, son? Son : Under water, Dad. Father : Under water? What do you mean? Son: They’re below C level

Reminiscence of the new year

It September, and I wanted to refresh back my memory of what has happened to me at the beginning of the year. Time to look back and reconsider about my life here. (Sound typical? Hehehhe) I remember when I first arrived here, I don’t really like it. I am scared and terrified of what future hold for me in here. Live in the moment, don’t worry about the future The picture shown the scenery of the road that I’ve seen to get to my current school. It’s a rural area, secluded far away from city. The village that greet the new teachers to this place. The challenges begin It’s keep raining heavily, and flood occurred. The first time in my life I encounter flood. Luckily only teachers houses that being affected by the flood, so the school keep on. To get to school, we had to went through water that up until 0.5 m high. Two houses that badly affected Look at the inside of the house – it so sad Look how high the water is, nearly as high as football score wall. This is just a reminiscence of w...

Fasting in here

Me, with teacher Linda and Teacher Ibrahim share our meals together. The picture show what we had for our break fast. Its not much, but its ok. In here, I learn to appreciate every little things that I have. Looking back, the food is more than enough. Today is the ninth day we fast. A week before that me and Linda fast at Miri town and everyday we just bought our food and now, back to our work place, we need to cook for our meals. It’s memorable once I had to look back and I will remember it. At miri, the weather wasn’t as hot as in here. Maybe because at my friend’s place, the place is much nicer, so I do not feel tired and thirsty easily, but in here, the weather is too hot and drain away my energy. Look at the picture. The field is directly in front of my room and imagined the heat that directly come to my room. But I know, fasting month is a very challenging month. I will try to face and handle the challenges, no matter how hard and difficult it is. Mas, fighting

Experience is the Greatest Teacher

I'm a teacher, and I'm proud to be a teacher, but become a teacher is not easy It always come to my mind, is everything what I taught my pupils, do they get it? It makes me worry all the time. But somehow, I know, they do not get fully what I taught. Even our brain unable to give 100% concentration at all time, and the most, it can only gives 100% concentration of not more than five minutes. Moreover, learning also involves memorization, and most of us know, memorization is not easy (it goes to me, I hate to memorize), that’s why as a teacher, I’ve been told that I need to expose to my pupils to the real things of what they learn as much as possible so that they can better and easy to grasp of what I taught. (It’s not easy to be a teacher) At the age of 26 now, I realized most of the things that I know and learned, I learned through experiences, especially things related to heart. Learning from people and books, can widen our knowledge, but learning from real situati...

Barbecue Night

The fishing last around three hours. We going back home around 5pm (my estimation, because none of us actually bring a watch). Cikgu Linda suggested that we doing barbecue so that we can eat with the pupils and other teachers and our friendly clerk, Mdm Magdelene. She helped us a lot. Thank you kakak. Even during the baebecue, she is the one who is doing a lot of work, including washed the fishes, and preparing barbecue place. No word can desribe the memorable night that we had. Too bad Sapok cannot join us. Cikgu Ibrahim also joined us in the barbecue. As words cannot describe what a night we had, a pictures will prove that night. Kakak who always helped us whenever we ask. thank you kakak.
